Let’s look back at the first concert of the Vox Aeterna project, which took place on February 23 and was dedicated to Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was an outstanding Dutch composer, a brilliant organist and harpsichordist, an exceptional teacher, and an unparalleled master of polyphony.
Living in Amsterdam during the 16th and 17th centuries, he was known to his contemporaries as the 'Orpheus of Amsterdam.' Many renowned musicians and scholars traveled from across Europe specifically to hear Sweelinck’s remarkable improvisations.
Here are a few highlights from our concert evening.
A reminder that Vox Aeterna’s exclusive concerts will take place on the last Sunday of each month. We look forward to welcoming you to the next one!
